Tour overview

This one day tour to Lake Mburo National Park is the ultimate adventure for travelers that have less time around Uganda but would like to experience the wild while in the pearl of Africa. Lake Mburo National Park is the closest national park to Kampala, the capital of Uganda. It’s also the smallest savannah park of all the 10 national parks in Uganda. The park inhabits some unique wildlife like zebras, elands, topis and impalas that can not be seen anywhere else in Uganda except in Lake Mburo and Kidepo National Park which is far away.

You shall drive through the countryside, go across the equator twice, enjoy a nature walk alongside zebras, giraffe, and lots of antelope, have a yummy lunch and travel in a comfortable 4×4 safari vehicle driven by a professional safari driver guide.

6am: Set Off

You shall be met and picked by our professional English speaking driver guide who shall brief you through your 1 day trip itinerary before setting for the journey. You shall drive through the countryside across small villages and towns, you shall cross the equator at Kayabwe towards the western side of the country.

Have breakfast enroute reaching Lake Mburo National Park just in time for your morning nature walk

10am: Lake Mburo National Park

Upon arrival, you shall be assigned a ranger guide who shall lead you through your nature walk experience. The nature walk is the best way to get soo close to nature and wildlife. The park boasts of a big number of zebras, lots of antelopes including the elusive elands, impalas, topis and hartebeests, taking on a nature walk would get you so close to these and the giraffes, buffalos among others.

The communities that border the national park are mostly pastoral communities rearing lots of cattle, be sure to look out for the Ankole Long horned cattle that are indigenous to this part of the world.

1pm: Lunch

You shall have lunch at one of the lodges overlooking the lake mburo or choose to go enjoy a local dishes buffet at Igongo Cultural museum set on the outskirts of Mbarara, the biggest city in the western part of Uganda.

3pm: Set Off

You shall set off for your journey back to Kampala with an en route stop over at the equator for your equator experience. Take photos, be taken through the equator experiment, choose to buy souvenirs at the curio shops before continuing with the journey to Kampala reaching in the early evening hours.
