Tour overview
This 1 Day Entebbe Wildlife Experience takes you to visit The Uganda Wildlife Education and Conservation Centre formerly referred to as the Entebbe Zoo is the best Uganda day tour for wildlife viewing.
Formerly Entebbe zoo, the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre was established in 1952 by the colonial government with the aim of protecting rescued wild animals. Today, it’s the best place to have a highlight the wildlife in the Uganda national parks. Most importantly the conservation institution carries the mandate of educating Ugandans about the importance of conserving the country’s biodiversity.
Entebbe zoo plays an important role in rescuing and rehabilitating injured, orphaned and confiscated wild animals. Endangered species are bred here then after being released to the wild to prevent their extinction. UWEC is a habitat for about 400 indigenous animals, 250 bird species and 500 plant species. Some of the animals in the zoo include lions, leopards, baby elephants, cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, chimpanzees, monkeys, crocodiles.
